Royal Rilakkuma Art, A Winter Hearts Discovery, & Holiday Wrap-Up!

Hey, check out this Rilakkuma art created by Simon!

Rilakkuma Art - Royal BD Bear

How regal!

Wah super cute, I can’t believe it! Thanks for sending this in, Simon! (First of many more to come, I hope!)

This piece of art is inspired by the Rilakkuma 10th Anniversary Sofa Throne Series and Kehinde Wiley’s portrait of Ice-T – ha!

My (M Classic) Rilakkuma plushie sat in as a model for this portrait – he looks a lot like my Fansclub Royal Rilakkuma plushie, too! Super handsome :)

In plushie news, has anyone ordered the Winter Hearts Series? Diligent reader Jennifer noticed that the fur on these plushies is slightly longer and fluffier than that the regular plushies – a happy medium between the regular plushies and the My Only series!

Winter Hearts fur - face

See the difference in the face?

Winter Hearts fur - feet

Super noticeable difference in the feet!

Incredible discovery! Thanks so much for sharing, Jennifer!

I wonder if they’ll be using more of this texture in the future? Maybe they’re testing out this new fur on the market to see how people like it. It’ll be exciting to see!

Also, I’m sure the shaggier fur keeps them nice and warm during this cold winter!

In other news: for Christmas, my mom turned one of my Rilakkuma Lifestyle photos into a blanket!

BD Blanket - 1

Beautiful!

Wow! I think the colors turned out really well – this is definitely one of my favorite photos :) This photo really doesn’t do justice to the massive scale of this blanket – it’s even bigger than my queen-size bed!

I’m so thankful and fortunate to have a family that is so appreciative of Rilakkuma!

This came at a great time because we’re feeling the polar vortex a little even here all the way down in Florida, so it’s nice to have a warm Rilakkuma blanket to snuggle up to!

I hope everyone is surviving the cold!

  1. Yup!! Totally cool and I absolutely agree that the Rilakkuma Art by Simon is so super cute!!!:)) I love it too and thank you Faith for sharing the art with us on your blog!!:)) I keep looking at it!! :D
Your mum’s blanket made specially for you is SO beautiful!!! It looks just great!! You are so blessed and lucky!! Your mum is truly talented!!:))
Unfortunately the Year Of The Horse Rilakkuma is the same smooth fur of the past. Hope that the future releases would be this furrier, fluffier range. The plushies look more realistic and feels really nice when you hold them too.:))
    Great Rilakkuma Art Simon!!!:))

  2. Oh wow that Rilakkuma art is amazingly awesome how cool to have a kuma portrait!! He he I was thinking the same thing with the fur I’m thinking it’s for the winter theme because kii is fluffy too XD. That blanket is beautiful and also one of my fav RL pictures!!! Your mom is so cool and what a great kuma loving family. I love the heart series I might try to add them to my collection because your kuma is too cute ;)

  3. That art is awesome! Hehe, he even captured Rilakkuma lazying on the throne, that slouching posture!

I prefer the longer fluffier hair, it makes them so much cuter but I find the fur on it’s feet are a bit too fluffy…kind of like…hairy legs. I don’t why it makes me think of that X_x

The blanket is AMAZING! It looks great! I thought it was a huge poster at first. Oh gosh, it’s freezing here in Canada (but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, it’s “normal” for it to be this cold). I wish we’re allowed to not come into work once in a while, my face and legs freeze the minute I walk out the door (everywhere else is protected with heavy duty warm items). Stay warm!

    • Dang, I can’t imagine how cold it must be in Canada – you are so strong! I am such a wimp here because I’m feeling so cold and the temperature is nowhere near freezing here haha. I’m all bundled up, and all my classmates from the north always laugh at us for our cold sensitivity haha (we deserve it). Sending warm thoughts your way! :)
