Back from Charleston, and ready to get back into the (Rilakkuma) swing of things! I hope to post a few of my photos on this blog, once I get around to sorting through the hundreds of takes haha.
In what feels like news to welcome me home, San-X swarms us again with a dashingly cute collaboration with JR (Japan Railway) this summer: Rilakkuma Meets Dr. Yellow!
Now this was a collaboration I really didn’t see coming!
Dr. Yellow (ドクターイエロー) is the nickname for the high-speed test trains used on the Japanese Shinkansen (bullet train) – as the name implies, these train cars are “doctors” that help diagnose problems on the track, and sport a beautiful bright yellow! A lovely complement to the lime green theme from last year’s Rilakkuma x Yamanote Line collaboration.
And just like the Yamanote collaboration too, looks like Korilakkuma got left out again :[
Specifically for this collaboration, Rilakkuma represents a Dr. Yellow Class 923, as designated on his shirt and by the blue stripe.
No time to rest for this release y’all – these items and more (such as keyrings, storage boxes, and pens) will be available July 19! There will also be a special commemorative bag, and if you make a purchase over 1,900円, a commemorative sticker, too!
As a future doctor hahaha, I’m actually super drawn to this design, so even though my wallet is already tired from July, I feel like I have to have a bear from this series! But with the three different Rilakkuma designs, I’m having a hard time deciding which to choose! What are your thoughts?
You gotta get at least the standard one you love these T-shirt Rilakkumas XD. I love this design and I was hoping they’d make more for other lines like the Blue and Sobu lines. There are so many things coming out in July I can’t choose either but the standard plushie is a must for me! Wow thanks for the news, hehe I’ve only seen a yellow train once and I was wondering what it was.
Yeah, I was leaning toward the standard one too! So he can hang out with his other T-shirt brothers hahaha.
I wonder if they’ll be making a Rilakkuma for a different color line each summer? I think it’s a really fun collab, and it’s cool to see San-X expanding on it from the original release last year!!
Wow!! Thanks for the update!! But seems a little bit too yellow for me. Some how, the green yamanote ones still appeals more to me.😅
Yeah, the Yamanote green was really a beautiful color complement! And that series will always hold a special place in my heart since it was from the summer I visited Japan and got to ride the Yamanote line!
This Rilakkuma reminds me a little of the construction workers here in the US, they wear yellow a lot too hehehe.
Even Rilakkuma will be a doctor! How academic :)
Yes, he became a doctor before both of us hahaha
Hahaha!! How right you are Faith!! Rilakkuma is so clever!!!!😍😍😍

July is so crazy with releases, haha! I’m figuring out which to save/preorder for. I’m sort of in love with the Rilakkuma sitting in the train, but I also need to figure out if I’ll pre-order the cat series.
They’re all so cute, if I could have all of them I would. Rilakkuma as a train is new, a little strange but I also find it adorable.
I feel you haha, I always try to make a plan of what to get before the time comes, but San-X somehow always manages to throw a wrench in my plans.
The Rilakkuma as a train himself is such a bizarre but fascinating design concept haha I really love it when San-X gets creative with their concepts. I think I’m gonna order the bigger pillow-sized one of those for my sister and then the standard collectible size with the T-shirt for myself. Ouch, my bank account…
Ah, I’m not a fan of this collab. While I do think it’s adorable that they decided to make Rila into Dr. Yellow, this collection isn’t setting off my “Omg, I MUST HAVE THIS!” switch. I do think it’s hilarious that Kii looks like a miner though XD
He really does! I thought the Rilakkuma with the yellow had kinda looked like a construction worker too, seems like it could pass as a whole team of Rilakkumas/Kiiroitoris working blue collar jobs haha.
