Happy Holiday Picnic Series Rilakkuma!

The Happy Holiday Picnic Series came out in February 2012. This plushie was released as part of the same series as my Hamburger Rilakkuma, and came in the same decorated package as the Honey Bee plushie!

Off to a picnic!

Happy Holiday Picnic - hamburger basket

The detailing on this prop is incredible. The waffling on the basket creates a really genuine texture, and the burger inside is so complete and fully thought-out that you can basically see all the ingredients.

He’s even got personalized boots!

Wow! I’m so impressed! Also, it’s good to see Rilakkuma finally get a pair of shoes hahaha.

Honey and Smile Series Rilakkuma!

This Honey Bee Rilakkuma came out as part of the Honey and Smile Series (Rilakkuma Meets Honey) released in May 2011. True to his bear character, Rilakkuma puts globs of honey everywhere: on pancakes, on toast, on Swiss rolls, everything.

Honey bee + Happy Picnic Rilakkumas - package and gifts

Decorated package came with Hello Kitty marshmallows, little packets of furikake decorated with anime, and Rilakkuma stationary. Not pictured: strawberry Pocky that I ate before I snapped this shot.

To bee, or not to bee.

Bee(n) there, done that.

Rilakkuma Meets Honey Series - wing detail

Don’t worry, bee happy.

My sister will be giving this plushie to one of her best friends for Christmas. It was good having him in the house for a few months! I hope he is treated well after he moves on!

Marine Series Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

My brother was home for the weekend, so I snapped a few shots of his Rilakkuma plushies! They are from the Marine Series, which was released in May 2012. Because San-X did not release a Kiiroitori for this series, this is actually the complete set!

Aww! So cute together!

Marine Series Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma - hat detail

Their hats are so well done!

“daradara since 2003” – this means that they have been lazy since their birth in 2003!

It’s so nice to see the full set! I have to admit that I am personally biased towards Rilakkuma, so all of my plushies are Rilakkuma only, but having the matching set is so sweet! They’re sized perfectly, so that when they are standing together, it looks like they are holding hands!

Chicken Series Rilakkuma!

This Rilakkuma was a gift to my sister for Thanksgiving! He is her first themed Rilakkuma (she already has a medium-sized bear like the one I use for Rilakkuma Lifestyle photos). He comes from the same Chicken/Egg Series as the Caravan version I posted earlier, which came out this past October. He also came in the same decorated package as my Hamburger Rilakkuma! This Chicken Rilakkuma has some pretty adorable details:

He looks so cozy! And he has a front pocket like a kangaroo.

Chicken suit Rilakkuma - lining detail

The inside of his chicken suit is lined with a soft red checkered gingham. This fabric is also used to pad the feet of the suit.

Chicken suit Rilakkuma - tag detail

Fabric tag illustration: looks like Rilakkuma is breaking out of an egg!

Chicken Rilakkuma - removable suit

The costume is so soft and well-made! His chicken suit is actually fully removable, but doing so is tantamount to dressing/undressing a cat so I think that may be more trouble than it’s worth.

Hamburger Series Rilakkuma!

I received this Hamburger Series Rilakkuma plushie before I started this blog, but I never got a chance to share so here he is now!

Decorated package came with Hello Kitty cream puff squishy, little packets of furikake decorated with anime, and Rilakkuma stationary.

Hamburger Rilakkuma - full body shot

I guess he’s technically a cheeseburger.

Hamburger Rilakkuma - ketchup bottle detail

Rilakkuma tomato ketchup! I’m always in awe of their details.

He’s so cute – I’m glad to add him to my personal collection! This bear came out in February 2012, as a limited edition corollary plushie set of the Happy Picnic Series:

Chicken Series Rilakkuma – Caravan Edition!

My newest Rilakkuma plushie arrived in the mail!

Caravan Chicken Rilakkuma - package and gifts

Package also included 3 cute egg-themed Rilakkuma stickers, a Rilakkuma store bag with seal, and a Rilakkuma Christmas 2012 commemorative bag! Yay! If it isn’t already evident from Rilakkuma Lifestyle, I’m a sucker for Rilakkuma+food themes.

Caravan Chicken Rilakkuma - full body shot

Aww, he’s painted an egg!

Caravan Chicken Rilakkuma - plaid lining detail

Cute plaid lining detail on the poncho. Ponchos are my favorite clothing item for Rilakkuma plushies!

Caravan Chicken Rilakkuma - hood detail

Close-up – I like how his little ears poke out!

He’s from the current Rilakkuma Chicken/Egg Series, which was first released this past October. However, this plushie in particular is part of the Autumn 2012 Caravan. The seasonal caravan is a series of special events held by San-X: they bring out the (larger than) life-sized characters in themed outfits and have special products like this plushie that aren’t regularly available in stores. To compare, the version sold in stores wears a full (removable) chicken suit instead of a poncho:

Caravan versus Normal Chicken Rilakkuma comparison

I purchased one of the full chicken suit Rilakkuma plushies a while back, and will be giving him to my sister as a Thanksgiving gift since she’s been asking for months – he’ll have his own post, too!

Meet the Rilakkuma!

This is the Rilakkuma plushie seen in every one of the Rilakkuma Lifestyle photos (with the exception of user submissions). He’s the star!

Rilakkuma Lifestyle Rilakkuma

He’s my first Rilakkuma plushie – he was a gift from my parents when I graduated from Duke this past spring. I take him with me wherever I can.

With the help of my sister, my parents purchased him from a Hawaiian seller. At the time, I didn’t really know too much about Rilakkuma, just a few gifs I saw on tumblr. Look how far we’ve come!
